Ukrainian Subtitle Generator
Add Ukrainian subtitles to any video automatically. Upload a video with Ukrainian speech and get accurate, timed subtitles in Ukrainian Cyrillic back — with і, ї, є and ґ written correctly, not swapped for their Russian look-alikes.
Ukrainian is regularly mis-transcribed as Russian by tools that treat all Cyrillic as one language. The model here recognises Ukrainian as Ukrainian, uses the Ukrainian alphabet, and handles the mixed Ukrainian-Russian speech that is common in real video.

What makes Ukrainian subtitles different
Every language breaks in its own way. These are the parts that matter for Ukrainian.
Recognised as Ukrainian
The language is detected as Ukrainian rather than being lumped in with Russian, so the alphabet, spelling and vocabulary in the transcript are Ukrainian throughout.
The letters Russian does not have
І, ї, є and ґ are written where they belong, and ы, э and ё — which Ukrainian does not use — never appear. The apostrophe in words like м'ясо is placed correctly.
Mixed speech handled
Many speakers move between Ukrainian and Russian within a conversation. The transcript follows the speaker rather than forcing one language onto the whole video.
Sized for Cyrillic
Cyrillic is wider than Latin, so line lengths are measured to keep subtitles to two lines in a vertical frame and exported as UTF-8 so nothing degrades.
How to add Ukrainian subtitles to a video
Upload, review, export. No timeline scrubbing and no timecodes typed by hand.
- 1
Upload your video
Create your free account, then drop in an MP4, MOV, MKV or audio file containing Ukrainian speech. There is nothing to install.
- 2
Generate Ukrainian subtitles
The model identifies the audio as Ukrainian, transcribes it with the Ukrainian alphabet, writes case endings from context and times each line to the frame.
- 3
Edit and export
Correct any names or terms in the editor, then download the video with Ukrainian subtitles burned in, or export a clean .srt or .vtt file.
Ukrainian subtitles that are actually Ukrainian
The most common failure with Ukrainian video is not a wrong word but a wrong language. Ukrainian and Russian share most of the Cyrillic alphabet and a good deal of vocabulary, and a model that has seen far more Russian than Ukrainian will happily produce a Russian transcript of Ukrainian speech, complete with ы and э that the language does not have. For a Ukrainian audience that is worse than no subtitles at all.
The model here separates the two. It detects Ukrainian from the audio, transcribes with the Ukrainian alphabet, and applies Ukrainian grammar — the vocative case, the alternation of у and в, the apostrophe before iotated vowels. Where a speaker mixes in Russian, as many do, the transcript follows what was actually said rather than smoothing it into one language.
The rest is what any good subtitle track needs. Case endings chosen from the sentence, vowels written in standard spelling rather than as heard, and lines split for the width of Cyrillic on a phone. The export is UTF-8, so ї and ґ arrive intact in YouTube, VLC and every editing suite.

Frequently Asked Questions
Specific to Ukrainian, not the generic list.
Will it transcribe my Ukrainian video as Russian by mistake?
No. Ukrainian is detected and transcribed as Ukrainian, using the Ukrainian alphabet and spelling. Russian-only letters such as ы and э do not appear.
Does it handle speakers who mix Ukrainian and Russian?
Yes. Where a speaker switches language mid-conversation, the transcript follows what was said rather than forcing the whole video into one language.
Are і, ї, є and ґ written correctly?
Yes, along with the apostrophe in words like м'ясо and п'ять. Everything is exported as UTF-8 so it displays correctly everywhere.
Can I export Ukrainian subtitles as SRT?
Yes. Export a .srt or .vtt for YouTube, or download the video with the Ukrainian subtitles burned in for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.
Can I get English subtitles from a Ukrainian video?
Translated tracks are on the roadmap. The Ukrainian transcript comes first so any translation is made from a corrected source.
Can I edit my captions before exporting?
Yes. Correct the transcript, adjust timings, choose a caption style and then export the finished video or a clean SRT or VTT file.
